Lower School Authors Read Own Stories

Lower School students from different grades spent time reading each other stories on May 13 that they had written and illustrated. See a Photo Gallery of them reading all over the Lower School, and even on the windy sidewalk outside.

3rd Grade Draws Fraction Quilts

Combining art and math, the 3rd graders drew quilt squares that have different fractions of various colors. See a Photo Gallery of their colorful fraction drawings on display on the Lower School’s walls.

Register for SGS Adventure Summer Camp

Got an active kid who loves being outdoors? Sign them up for the SGS Summer Adventure Camp the week of June 13-17! Led by SGS Outdoor Director Melanie Mildrew, the campers will hike a three-mile loop, rock climb on real rocks, build forts, learn to use GPSs, and kayak/SUP in the runoff pond behind the Upper School. The camp, from Noon to 4pm each day, is for students entering 3rd through 5th grades this fall.

Register for Art, Music, & Drama Summer Camps

Summer is a great time to explore the arts, and these SGS Summer Camps will get the creative juices flowing! Any parent and child can “Paint Your Pet / Favorite Animal” on July 16 or August 4. Incoming 4th-6th graders can try drawing, painting, collage, printmaking, cardboard sculpture, and fiber arts during “Open Art Studio” the week of July 25-29. The “Rising Stars” camp introduces incoming 1st through 3rd graders to the music, movement, and drama of the performing arts from July 25-29. And for incoming 4th-9th grade students, the week of July 18-22 features “Musical Stars on Stage” as they get into singing, dancing, and acting in musical theater!

Gala Auction Brings SGS Community Together

The Gala Auction on May 6 brought nearly 200 members of the SGS community together to socialize and support our teachers at “An Evening Full of Stars”. Live and silent auction items raised funds to enhance faculty salaries and professional development opportunities.
