Knowledge Bowl Team Wins National Tournament

On May 7, Saint George’s Varsity Knowledge Bowl Team competed in the online national Interstate Knowledge Bowl tournament against schools from Washington, Colorado, and Minnesota. There was a written round of 40 questions followed by 4 oral rounds of 35 questions each prior to the final championship round.

Our team (Tariq Ravasia, Stella Brown, Teagan Canady, and Sam Morris) competed against schools of all sizes during the preliminary rounds and then won the Small School division in the classification championship round 16-6-2. They also tied for 2nd for most points overall regardless of classification with 90 points total. Congratulations, Dragons!

Lower School Authors Read Own Stories

Lower School students from different grades spent time reading each other stories on May 13 that they had written and illustrated. See a Photo Gallery of them reading all over the Lower School, and even on the windy sidewalk outside.

3rd Grade Draws Fraction Quilts

Combining art and math, the 3rd graders drew quilt squares that have different fractions of various colors. See a Photo Gallery of their colorful fraction drawings on display on the Lower School’s walls.

College Info Night for Grade 11 Families on May 18

SGS college counsellor Happy Avery’s next college information night for parents is coming up on Wednesday, May 18 from 6:00 to 7:30pm. Her agenda for the evening will focus on where current juniors should be at this stage of their college admissions process, and what they need to work on over the summer to be ready for fall. There will be time for Q & A too. This event will be in person in the Upper School Library, and Happy will send out a copy of her presentation afterward.
