SGS Celebrate 60 Gala 2016
A fun way to support your school
festive crowd gathered at Saint George's School at 5:30 p.m. on May 14, 2016 for the "Celebrate 60" Gala event.
The annual gala featured a celebration of the arts, with performances by the Upper School Choir and displays of student artwork to enjoy. The gala included hors d'oeuvres as a few live auction items were sold and the Raise-a-Paddle fundraiser helped fund the Deena Barber Endowed Scholarship. The highlight of the evening was the Raffle Drawing, where four lucky winners took home up to $5,000!
In attendance was Shaw McCutcheon, one of our founders. The McCutcheon's have an enduring commitment and generosity to the school, so it was fitting to have him there and honor him by announcing the Board's decision to name the Upper School after Shaw and his late wife, Nancy.
The Raffle/Auction was a terrific success, as we raised over $62,000. The Raise-the-Paddle to fully fund the Deena Barber Endowed Scholarship eclipsed $123,000, which allowed us to meet our challenge for an additional $25,000. Adding those numbers to the $325,000 that was raised over the last few years puts the Deena Barber Endowment over $473,000.
Thank you to everyone (parents, grandparents, teachers, and friends) who helped us achieve the goals and make the evening such a huge success.
