Thomas Repeats at State Golf Champion

SGS senior Chessey Thomas, playing for LC, earned her second State 4A Individual Golf title in Pasco on May 26 by a two-shot margin. Her scores of 68 and 70 gave her a two-day combined total 138 -- enough to hold off Kentwood's Rui Li for the championship.
"Last year it was mine to win and this year it was mine to lose," said Thomas in a Spokesman-Review article. "Either way, it's tough. Today, the last nine holes, I was just thinking greens and fairways."
Thomas will attend the University of Tennessee in the fall. The Lady Vols' golf team is currently ranked in the top 10 in the nation.
