Dragon Athletics

Our students never forget the
great teams and fans at Saint George’s

Saint George’s no-cut, championship athletic program is exceptionally popular, supported, and successful. Each year, more than three-quarters of our students participate in Dragon athletics, enjoying the social and physical benefits of team play. During every season of the year, our gymnasiums are full of students shooting hoops, spiking volleyballs, or scaling our climbing walls. They run through the evergreen woods and along the river that borders our scenic campus to achieve top endurance levels for the sports of their choice.

Saint George's School

Saint George’s has one of Washington's most successful athletic programs. We've been the Washington State 'B' All-Sports Champions four times, and over the last 15 years our boys or girls basketball teams have played in the state title game 10 times, most recently winning the girls State B Championship in 2004. Our teams also have dominated the Panorama League and district competitions, placing high at state in girls' and boys' cross country, girls' and boys' track, boys' baseball, and boys' soccer. Our students also represent Saint George's well in girls' volleyball, girls' softball, and boys' and girls' tennis. Across the years, our teams have won 84 league championships, 43 district championships, and have qualified for state 37 times, taking home 24 state championships.

The opportunity for me to play college basketball began with the no-cut policy at Saint George’s. That policy allows late-bloomers, like me, to realize their potential.

Travis Welt, Class of 2003 (currently playing basketball at Seattle University)

The Saint George’s community embraces our athletes’ talents as equally as it applauds our actors on the Founders Theater stage. There’s nothing like a passionate fan dressed in red and white yelling, “Go Dragons!”

Saint George's School

It’s fun to be an athlete and walk onto the floor under the lights and the noise and to look into the stands and see friends, teachers and family supporting you.

Then & Now: Kari Hutchinson Mueller '94 The postseason was a blur. It started innocently, a sixth-seed beating an 11-seed handily, 93-62. Then the six shocked the three-seed 86-83 to get the first Sweet 16 berth in school history. At the regional in Columbia, S.C., came a surprisingly easy 87-71 win over the two-seed. The regional final was a 62-52 win over the five-seed, which had upended the No. 1 seed. Then it was on to the Final Four.
