New events join established traditions
in an exciting mix

Each fall, a new class of freshmen enters the Upper School and discovers the traditions that make Saint George’s different from any other school. Students leave their lockers open, move between classes without warning bells, and have the freedom to start clubs and events that interest them. That’s how the Robotics Club began, and in their first two years these future engineers have already won a regional title and twice competed at the FIRST Robotics national championships.

Saint George's School

New events such as the crazy contests of Homecoming Week and the festival of music, dance and food known as International Day have joined established student favorites – canoeing down the Little Spokane, performing a Broadway musical, and cheering until they are hoarse at basketball games in the school’s new Errol Schmidt Athletic Center.

By the time they are seniors, students can enjoy their own parking lot and second floor lounge. But their biggest tradition also is their last one at the school – Graduation. Since the first class crossed Graduation Bridge and marched across the lawn to the strains of bagpipes, every Saint George’s graduate has shared this moment of celebration.

The Robotics program changed my whole outlook, not just because it was fun with my friends, but because I learned how bright my future can be.”
