Upper School

Welcome to Saint George’s Upper School

Saint George's School
Karl Revells, Head of Upper School

We like to think of the Upper School as a place that combines both the traditional and the unorthodox.

From a traditional college prep perspective, the majority of our students participate in the AP program to help facilitate their entry into competitive colleges. Hard work is part of our daily ethos. On top of this, our students can choose from an extensive variety of core and elective courses, many of them only found at the college level. We also faithfully honor many of Saint George's own traditions. Our seniors absolutely insist on crossing the bridge over the Little Spokane River on Graduation Day – as they have done for the past 50 years – and holding the ceremony outside irrespective of rain, wind, and sometimes high water.

As to the unorthodox – we don't have school bells, uniforms, or rules that can make some private schools feel at times like prisons. Our students seldom lock their lockers and do not worry about the safety of their possessions. Everyone on campus is addressed by their first name or nickname. We close the first semester with a communal holiday feast for students and parents alike. We treasure the sense of close, trusting, and friendly community that these practices help to create.

Our students and alumni fondly refer to these and many other practices and traditions as the “ Saint George's experience.” We hope you will visit us and see for yourself what makes Saint George’s an exceptional school.
