Curriculum
Middle School is all about growth – intellectually, physically, and socially.
Saint George’s Middle School stretches students with challenging homework and in-depth projects. To ensure their success, they receive individualized attention from teachers, and each student has an advisor who monitors their progress academically and with their peers.
Sixth grade at Saint George’s acts as a transition year from the Lower School’s self-contained classes to the separate departments of seventh and eighth grade. Sixth graders have their own locker area and social events, as well as their own activities – from journaling in the woods around campus to conducting mock trials of England’s Henry VIII. Seventh graders dress up to discuss books at a Literary Tea, then get dirty digging fossils at an archeological site. Eighth graders study the turning points of history, then re-enact the Battle of Gettysburg with water balloons and squirt guns each spring. Who knew history could be this much fun?!
The Middle School has a unique identity – its own building, faculty, curriculum, and community. At the same time, it is very much a part of the whole school. There is a strong sense of belonging and of being welcome, where every teacher knows every student well and helps them grow.
