College Trips

Visiting different colleges helps students focus their own search

Nothing beats seeing it for yourself. Saint George’s sophomores and juniors follow that advice each spring when the annual College Trip visits seven or eight colleges and universities. They talk to current students, tour the campuses, get a feel for life at college. And they discover how competitive the admissions process can be for top public and private institutions.

Saint George's School

The 2007 Spring trip visited Bay Area and Southern California schools such as Stanford, Berkeley, University of San Francisco, Cal Poly, USC, Occidental, and the Claremont Colleges. Students on the 2007 Fall trip circled the Pacific Northwest, touring the University of Washington, University of Puget Sound, University of Portland, and Linfield College among others.

Exploring different schools allows students to compare urban and rural settings, religious and non-religious orientations, big public universities and small private colleges to find the right school for them.

You get to talk with students about dorms, classes – see their perceptions of the college. I learned I wanted a smaller school where I can interact with the teachers like at Saint George’s. I like this teaching and learning environment.
